A Message from the Principal

Morgan Park High School is one of Chicago’s premier Neighborhood & International Baccalaureate High Schools.  Founded in 1916, Morgan Park has produced generations of proud Mustang graduates, who have gone on to achieve professional and personal successes locally, statewide, and nationally.

As an International Baccalaureate World School with 1,200 students and 150 staff members, Morgan Park prides itself in its three core IB Programs:

  • IB Middle Years Program: a curriculum rooted in inquiry, to challenge students of all interests and academic abilities in Grades 7-10.
  • IB Diploma and Career-Related Programmes are selective, advanced-level college preparatory programmes designed to help students transition into college with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

Additionally, Morgan Park offers a spectrum of Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and Honors courses.  Nearly 200 cadets are enrolled in Morgan Park High School’s robust JROTC program, pairing their JROTC experience with the academic programs above.

Morgan Park is committed to educating the whole student; this commitment extends to investing in high-quality, robust extracurricular programs.  Morgan Park currently offers 25+ extracurricular programs, including Robotics, Marching Band, Theatre, Debate, and Yearbook.  Morgan Park’s Athletic Department, with a history of excellence across many sports, offers students access to 20+ IHSA sports programs per year.

Students can enroll at Morgan Park through four pathways:

  • Academic Center: Admission to this selective program is through GoCPS for 7th & 8th Grade students.
  • International Baccalaureate Cohort Students: Admission to this choice program is through GoCPS for 9th Grade students.
  • Special Education w/ Significantly Modified Curriculum: Admission to this choice program is through GoCPS for 9th Grade students.
