All Chicago students can attend the general education program at their neighborhood school (based on their address). Students can also apply to any open enrollment program in the city. Details	Academic Centers, housed in high schools, offer high-achieving students the opportunity to take advanced classes. Admission requires applicants to take the Regional Gifted Center exam, which assesses reasoning skills and problem-solving ability. Applicants are evaluated on their exam score and cumulative grades from the previous school year, with a maximum score of 600 points—300 from the exam and 300 from grades. Students scoring below 300 points are ineligible for selection.

Details	Applicants are selected by random computerized lottery. If the program has priority groups, students in those groups are selected in the order listed. After students are selected for this Magnet/Honors program, the school will do an additional evaluation to determine who will enter the Honors program.

HS Admissions Test Requirement	A minimum combination score is used in order to be included in the lottery for this program. The combination score is achieved by adding the Math and Reading percentiles together. General Education student and students with a 504 plan will need a minimum combination of 120. Students with IEP’s and English Learners will need a minimum combination of 110.
