Terrence is known for his poise, leadership, intelligence, and dedication.

Meet Terrence, a soon-to-be eighth-grade graduate who has attended Neil Elementary since he was in pre-k! This awesome student is known for his poise, leadership, intelligence, and dedication. Not only has he achieved success academically and maintained near-perfect attendance, but he is also incredibly involved in his school community. Terrence has served as a student ambassador and conducts the school’s morning meetings, sharing lessons with his peers about important topics like anxiety and time-management.
“Terrence is not only an exceptional student but also a young man of exceptional character,” says his school counselor, Mrs. Latoya Dameron. “He possesses the intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and leadership skills necessary to thrive in challenging situations. His commitment to his education is truly exemplary.”
This fall, Terrence will be heading to Lindblom Math and Science Academy. He plans to take dual-enrollment courses through Kennedy King College during high school and eventually go into real estate. He has definitely left a positive impact on Neil, and we can’t wait to see all of the incredible things he will accomplish in high school and beyond! Learn more about Terrence and his elementary school journey below.
What are some of your interests inside and outside of school?
Outside of school, I like to do scripting and modeling. At school, I like playing volleyball with my friends because it brings me joy!
What is one highlight from your time in elementary school?
I like the award ceremonies, because it’s an opportunity to feel proud, congratulate yourself, and pat yourself on the back.
What is something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?
I am proud of my straight A’s and my Star 360 test scores in reading and math!
How have you changed and grown throughout your time at Neil?
My sensibility and my learning tactics have changed. I’ve gotten to know myself and how I learn better, and it has brought me more confidence and helped me be more patient with myself. Also, since I’ve started doing the morning meetings, I’ve become an open book and able to express myself more clearly.
Do you have any advice for younger students?
Put time and effort into your work, and section off all of your responsibilities into specific priorities. Also, make sure you use your resources like iReady and Khan Academy.
What are some of your goals for high school?
I want to be even more successful than I was in middle school, and I definitely want to get more involved at school and be open to new opportunities.
If you could describe your time at Neil in one word, what would it be and why?
Exciting. As a class, we do a lot of activities, socializing, and having fun.
