Welcoming Back Our High School Students: A Day One Video and Photos

19 April 2021

Check out what our high school students have to say about being back at school!

After more than a year of learning from home, the day has finally come—our high schools have welcomed students back to their classrooms! Today is about equity. Too many of our high school students reported feeling bored, isolated, frustrated, and unmotivated, and they needed an in-person learning option. It is an especially exciting day for our freshmen, who have yet to experience high school beyond a screen, and for our seniors, who will be able to close out their high school journeys in the buildings that often feel like their second homes.

Months of preparation from our high school leaders to create the safest possible learning environments are paying off today in big ways. And it’s not just an exciting day for our high schools—a new group of elementary school students are also returning to their classrooms for the first time. Enjoy pictures from across the city below, and make sure to check out what high school students at Phoenix Military Academy, Steinmetz, and Taft have to say about being back at school!
