An Invitation to Talk - Una invitación para hablar

04 May 2018

I’m pleased to invite you to participate in a series of town hall meetings we’ll be holding this month to listen to your thoughts and priorities, as well as open new lines of communication about how Chicago Public Schools can best support you and your family.

Executive update A note from janice

Dear CPS Parents and Families,

As CPS parents, your voices count for so much, and you’ve helped us make schools throughout the city stronger. Today, I’m pleased to invite you to participate in a series of town hall meetings we’ll be holding this month to listen to your thoughts and priorities, as well as open new lines of communication about how Chicago Public Schools can best support you and your family.

The past several years have brought tremendous progress for our students. I’m proud to say that CPS is earning national recognition – just recently, Stanford University said that our elementary students are learning six years’ worth of math and reading in just five years of instruction. We’ve also stabilized our budget after years of challenges.

But I know we have a lot of work left to do, and parents will be vital to sustaining our progress. As a CPS parent myself, I want to hear directly from you about how we can work together to ensure that our schools are strong and vibrant learning communities.

At each meeting, we will provide a brief overview of the state of our schools and reserve the majority of the time for you to speak with me and my leadership team. Representatives from various CPS departments will also be on hand to speak one-on-one with parents about how we can best support you and address any individual issues that you may have.

Town halls will occur from 6-8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 15 at Whitney Young Magnet High School
  • Thursday, May 17 at Brooks College Preparatory Academy
  • Monday, May 21 at Amundsen High School
  • Thursday, May 24 at Michele Clark High School
  • Tuesday, May 29 at Back of the Yards College Prep

I see a bright future for our students, one in which every student in every neighborhood reaches their full potential. By working together, we will ensure that happens. I hope to see you at one of the town halls.

Sincerely,

Janice K. Jackson, EdD

Martes, 29 de mayo en Back of the Yards College Prep

Atentamente,

Janice K. Jackson, EdD
