CPS assists schools to prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from crises that affect the school population, including students and staff, with the goal of safeguarding the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of the CPS community.
The Crisis Management Unit consists of licensed clinicians who are responsible for helping schools prepare, prevent and respond to situations involving a school-level crisis incident such as:
- Death of a staff member or student
- Suicide ideation, attempt, or completion
- Homicide ideation, attempt, or completion
- Abuse
- Incidents where administrators or school clinicians determine the need for additional assistance
